Atlanta – Georgia State forward Aaliyah Faddoul has been named the first Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Faddoul powered the Panthers to a 7-0 victory over Truett-McConnell in Sunday's home opener, scoring three goals. The senior forward found the back of the net twice in the first half, in the 11th minute on a penalty and in the 16th minute. She completed her hat trick in the second half in the 74th minute, weaving between two defenders before finishing with a strike past the goalie.
The Ontario native also recorded a goal and an assist in the Panthers' 4-2 loss to UAB in the season opener on Aug. 12. On the week, Faddoul recorded nine points and led the team with 11 shots and 6 shots on goal.
Faddoul's hat trick marked her first multi-goal performance of the year and helped the Panthers find their first win of the young season.
This is the fifth time she has been Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week in her career.
