Panthers Head West To Face Samford

ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer looks to build upon a dominating 7-0 home win as the Panthers travel to face out-of-conference foe Samford in Birmingham, Ala. on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

This contest marks the fourth time these two teams have played each other. The Panthers are 0-3-0, with the last contest being a 3-0 home loss on Sep. 4, 2025. 

The Last Time Out

In its home opener, Georgia State flashed offensive firepower, winning 7-0 against Truett-McConnell. Senior forward Aaliyah Faddoul matched the Georgia State record for single-game goals with three on just six shots. Senior forward Gabriela Gonzalez notched two goals, including one from near midfield to put the Panthers up 4-0 in the first half. 

Senior forward Hina Suzuki and junior forward Sunniyah Tucker each scored on a shot. Junior midfielder Jasmine Lim and freshman defender Bailey Vinette each added an assist. 

Offensive Powerhouse

Through two matches, Georgia State is averaging 16.5 shots per game and owns a 9-4 edge in total goals. The Panthers also hold an advantage in set pieces, recording 12 corner kicks to just five for their opponents.

Senior Aaliyah Faddoul leads the Panthers with 4 goals, followed by Gabriella Gonzalez with two. Faddoul leads the Panthers in every offensive statistical category, sharing the lead in assists with Lim and Vinette. 

Scouting the Bulldogs

Samford comes into the game 1-0-1 on the season, led by 25th-year Head Coach Todd Yelton. The Bulldogs opened the season on Aug. 12, playing #2 Notre Dame to a 0-0 draw. On Aug. 16, Samford notched its first win of the year at home against Belmont, 2-0.

Kickoff for the Panthers is set for 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 20.
