The Sun Belt Conference sack leader, known as Stretch, actually began his career as a defensive back.

ON THE FIELD

> Enjoying one of the top defensive seasons in the Sun Belt Conference with a league-leading 8.0 sacks (No. 9 in FBS).

> Has shattered the GSU season sack record (previously set by Christo Bilukidi with 5.0 sacks in 2010) in just eight games.

> Also ranks third in the Sun Belt with 10.5 tackles for loss, two behind the GSU season record of 12.5.

> Key part of a Georgia State defense that leads the Sun Belt and ranks in the Top 5 in FBS with a school-record 31 sacks.

> Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after a remarkable performance in the Panthers' win at Troy, when he had three tackles for loss, including two 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. The first fumble he returned 63 yards. On the second one, he sacked the quarterback, stripped the ball and recovered at the Troy 8-yard line to set up a touchdown.

> Made another big play at Arkansas State with a strip-sack that teammate Blake Carroll picked up and returnd 74 yards for a touchdowns.

> Had two sacks and three tackles for loss last Saturday at South Alabama as the GSU defense allowed just 14 pionts and 324 total yards.

MORE ON JORDAN

> Strachan's outstanding season is even more noteworthy because he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 2019 opening win at Tennessee. He underwent surgery and went through months of rehab to return for this season.

> Played safety at Camden County High School in Kingsland, Ga., but was injured his senior season, so he joined the GSU program as a walk-on in 2017.

> One day at practice, the scout-teamer was told by the coaches to line up at outside linebacker and "go rush the quarterback." He did, and that was his new position.

> Earned a scholarship and a starting berth as a redshirt freshman in 2018.

> Frequently hears his last name mispronounced, usually as Strack-in or Stray-kin. The C is silent, so the correct pronunciation is STRAHN. But everyone just calls him Stretch.

> Celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thanksgiving.

NEXT UP: Jordan and the Panthers host rival Georgia Southern Saturday at Center Parc Stadium, with kickoff at 12 noon  on ESPN3.
