Soccer Programs Teaming Up with Vs. Cancer

ATLANTA – The Georgia State men and women's soccer teams are facing off in a challenge to raise awareness and funds for Vs. Cancer.

Vs. Cancer empowers sports teams, athletics, and the community to help kids with cancer. As a signature fundraising program of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Vs. Cancer proceeds help fund child life programs in local hospitals, benefiting all children with cancer at that hospital, and lifesaving pediatric brain tumor research.

Vs. Cancer was created in 2006 when founder Chase Jones was diagnosed at 18 years told with a Stage IV brain tumor. As a baseball player at the University of North Carolina, his team rallied around him during treatment and began raising funds to support their local hospital. Chase attests his status of 10 years cancer-free as a result of national research efforts and community help.

Fans can support one or both Georgia State soccer programs:

Men: https://team.curethekids.org/GSUMensSoccer2020

Proceeds will benefit Children's Hospital of Atlanta. Both teams hope to have an opportunity to visit the children there when it's safe at some point next year.
Each team has set a fundraising goal of $2,000 per team. The total amounts raised will be announced at a pair of upcoming home matches (women on Oct. 25, men on Nov. 1).

Both soccer teams will be in action this week. The Georgia State men's team is at home on Tuesday night hosting Mercer at 7 p.m., at the GSU Soccer Complex, while the women return home to host Appalachian State on Thursday at 7 p.m., at Center Parc Stadium. Both teams currently stand in first place in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
