Georgia State Men's Soccer Opens 2026 Season Hosting USC-Upstate

ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer team kicks off the 2026 season with its home opener against USC-Upstate on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7:00 p.m. E.T.
 
SERIES HISTORY 
This will be the 16th time the Panthers have faced the Spartans. Georgia State looks to extend it's 6-1-2 advantage in the all-time series while defending their home turf, where they have a 3-0 record. Georgia State's longest run of success against the Spartans came with four straight victories from 2016 to 2022.  
 
THE RETURNING RUMBLE 
Georgia State returns a strong core of veterans from last season. Midfielders Sandro Rabarivony and Virgil Dall'Agnol are the pair to watch this season after combining for multiple starts in 2025 and bringing in a total of three goals, five assists and 11 points for GSU. The Panthers back line features Joel Gonzalez and Yverson Monongo-Kuangu, who both saw action in 2025.
 
NEW WAVE
The Panthers added 15 newcomers including seven freshmen and eight transfers. Through this new wave, GSU has added depth to its back line with Joseph Ogwang from Mercer, Josmy Ngandola from Angelina College and freshman Rowan Drews.
 
SEASON OPENERS 
Georgia State is 3-2-2 in its last seven season openers, including a shutout tie to open last season against USC-Upstate on Aug. 21, 2025.

The Panthers hit the road to Birmingham, Ala. to take on UAB on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 8:00 p.m. E.T.
