Howard and Duran Among Top 5, Women's Golf Third at MSU Spring Citrus Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. – With a pair of golfers among the top five, Georgia State stands in third place after two rounds of the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge at RedTail Golf Club.

The Panthers shot a second-round 20-over 308 to drop one spot and stand at 29-over par entering the final round on Tuesday.

Sophomores Chloe Howard and Petra Duran are tied for fourth place at 3-over par following 36 holes. Howard shot 74 on Monday while Duran added a 77.

“We struggled a little bit today,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We had some opportunities and were not able to take advantage of them. However, we are still in a good position for a very good result this week and I know we will come out and play a very good round on Tuesday.”

Freshman Maria Blasco added a 6-over 78 and is tied for 21st at 11-over par, while junior Harmanprit Kaur is tied for 27th at 12-over par following a 79. Freshman Alejandra Ayala rounded out the line-up with an 88 to drop into a tie for 47th at 22-over par.

Murray State continues to lead the field following a 294 and stand at 5-over par with one round to play. Keiser University is in second place at 21-over par, with the Panthers in third place at 29-over par. Austin Peay stands in fourth place at 33-over par, with Dartmouth rounding out the top five at 36-over par.

Murray State's Anna Moore shot a second-straight 70 to lead the field at 4-under par. Keiser's Michela Tjan is in second place at 1-over par, with Murray State's Jane Watts is in third place at 2-over par. Howard and Duran are tied for fourth with Murray State's Linette Holmslykke at 3-over par.

Georgia State will be paired with Murray State and Keiser for a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. off Holes 10-12. Fans can follow the team on twitter @GSU_WGolf.

Following this week's tournament, Georgia State will host the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate March 31-April 2 at Eagle's Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.
