GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Georgia State men's tennis had a successful first day in the ITA Southeast Regionals as its five individuals competing in the qualifying singles draw combined to go 7-3 overall, including Andrei Duarte who punched his ticket to Friday's main draw with a gritty win in the third round of the qualifying bracket.

Four of the five Panthers opened Thursday with straight-set victories. Patrick Lazo took care of Charley Castaing of North Florida 6-4, 6-2, Diego Padilha defeated Bryn Nahrung of Florida State 6-2, 6-2, Kevin Huynh knocked off North Florida's Nilo Duarte 6-4, 6-4, and Duarte defeated Hunter Robbins of FAU 6-1, 6-3.

Lazo, Duarte and Huynh all continued their strong play in their next match, both picking up close victories. Lazo topped Stetson's Christian Mills 7-6 (3), 6-4, while Duarte saved five match points and edged past Tatsuki Shimamoto of Miami 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3 to punch his ticket to the main singles draw. Huynh also earned his spot in the main draw after knocking off Luis Fernandez Labarta of FAU 6-0, 6-1.

For full results from day one, check out each individual's scores below. Georgia State will have five individuals participating in the main singles draw and four pairs of doubles duos in the doubles draw.

The tournament continues Friday morning with the main singles draw and doubles draw and concludes Monday afternoon with the main draw doubles final followed by the main draw singles final. Fans can follow the live scoring via CourtHive.
