GSU Advances to Championship Match with 4-2 Win Over Auburn

What you need to know:

* Georgia State defeated Auburn 4-2 to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Panthers advanced to the championship match tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET. against the winner of Wake Forest and Nebraska.

* GSU took two of three from the Tigers in doubles to take the doubles point. Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou won 6-3 over Auburn's Edward Nguyen and Dante Saleh to clinch the doubles point. Andrukhou ultimately gave the Panthers the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Conner Huertas.

* The Panthers will get back on the court at Wake Forest's Indoor Tennis Center for the championship match tomorrow at 5 p.m. as the team looks for its fifth win on the year.


WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The Georgia State men's tennis team earned its fourth win of the season with a dominant 4-2 performance against the Auburn Tigers. Georgia State improved to 4-1 on the season and will face either Wake Forest in the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship match at 5 p.m.

The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match after taking the doubles point. Felipe Jaworski and Quentin Coulaud got GSU off to a strong start with a 6-2 win over Auburn's pair. Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou then defeated Auburn's duo 6-3.

In singles play, Acuna and Zackery Kennedy gave GSU a 3-0 edge after making relatively light work of Dante Saleh and Max Hinnisdaels, respectively.

Andrukhou took it home for Georgia State after defeating Auburn's Conner Huertas 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

"It was a really good team win today against a solid SEC team,” head coach Brett Ross said. “I think our play in doubles is what stood out the most. We had a lot of confidence going into the singles being up a point. Everyone battled today in singles. Zack had a great win at number one, Sebastian played really solid, and Andrei came through at a clutch moment to close out the match."

GSU will get back to work in the championship match tomorrow at 5 p.m. against Wake Forest.
