BOONE, N.C.- The Georgia State women's soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime draw at Appalachian State Sunday afternoon.
With the draw, the Panthers are now 4-3-4 (1-1-2 Sun Belt) while the Mountaineers are 5-5-1 (0-2-1 Sun Belt).
The Panthers put up a good defensive showing, keeping Appalachian State out of the net with six saves from redshirt-junior Brie Haynes and a defensive save from senior Amanda Bruemmer.
On the offensive side of the ball, GSU created several chances to score but five saves from Appalachian State kept Georgia State off the board. Freshman Brooke Shank led the offensive effort, taking three of the team's six shots with two on target.
The Mountaineers nearly got on the board after a header off a corner kick with under three minutes left in double overtime, but a foul on the backline negated the goal.
"The girls worked really hard and fought to the end today," said head coach Ed Joyce. "I am proud of the effort that they put forth this weekend."
The Panthers will return to the field Friday night to host Troy for a single-match weekend of Sun Belt play set to begin at 7 p.m.
