ATLANTA -- Georgia State defended its home pitch in a 2-1 victory over ETSU Thursday at the GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State improved to 3-2-1 on the season following the victory.
How it Happened
Georgia State took a near instant 1-0 lead when Brielle Delgado scored her second goal of the season in the first minute.
The Panthers added another score on a goal from Sunniyah Tucker -- her third goal of the season -- in the 22nd minute, assisted by Delgado. This was one of eight shots the Panthers took in the first half.
ETSU got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute, with a goal from Jada Cooper to make it 2-1.
The score would hold, thanks to a save from each teams goalkeeper in the second half. The Panthers defense held strong, despite being outshot 13-11 and ceding 5 corner kicks.
Georgia State will travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia on Thursday, Sep. 10 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
