CARROLLTON, Ga. -- Georgia State got a hat trick from sophomore Abby Batts in a 4-1 win against West Georgia Thursday on the road at University Field.
The win improved Georgia St.'s record to 4-2-1 overall.
How it Happened
Georgia St. took an early 1-0 lead when Batts recorded her first goal of the season in the first minute, assisted by Carys Fraser.
The game would enter half at 1-0, thanks to 2 saves from junior goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte and 3 saves from West Georgia's goalkeeper Emily Sanabria.
In the 59th minute, West Georgia would pull the game to 1-1 thanks to an unassisted goal from Isa Ramirez.
Georgia State then went on top 2-1 on Batts' 81st-minute goal, her second of the season, assisted from Sunniyah Tucker.
Batts would complete her hat trick and go ahead 3-1, when she found the back of the net again in the 85th minute, off a Tucker assist.
Georgia State extended their lead to 4-1 on Tucker's fourth goal of the season in the 87th minute.
The Panthers return home to close out nonconference play against Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Sep. 13 at 6:00 p.m. ET at the GSU Soccer Complex.
