ATLANTA -- Georgia State got goals from Sunniyah Tucker and Brielle Delgado in a 2-0 shutout win over Gardner-Webb Sunday at home at GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State improved to 5-2-1 overall after the victory.
How it Happened
Georgia State and Gardner-Webb played a first half shutout, thanks to a save from junior Alondra Iriarte and two saves from Gardner-Webb's Abril Montiel.
The Panthers finally broke through in the 64th minute and took a 1-0 lead when Tucker recorded her fifth goal of the season.
Georgia State went up 2-0 on a goal from Delgado -- her third goal of the season -- in the 73rd minute, assisted by Tucker.
The Panthers kept the shutout going in the second half, as Iriarte stood tall with four saves to bring home the clean sheet.Â
Georgia State will travel to Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State and open Sun Belt play on Friday, Sep. 18 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
