ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer returns home as the Panthers face Big South opponent Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Sep. 13 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

This contest marks the third time these two teams have played each other, following a home-and-home set in 2010 and 2011. The Panthers are 2-0-0 against Gardner-Webb, winning 4-2 at home in their last contest.

The Last Time Out

Georgia State faced West Georgia, winning 4-1, boosted by a hat trick by sophomore Abby Batts. 

The Panthers got a late second-half surge to find the win. Batts scored her second goal of the game in the 81st minute to put Georgia State up 2-1. Batts would score four minutes later to complete the hat trick. 

Junior Sunniyah Tucker capped off the scoring surge with a goal of her own in the 87th minute and put the Panthers up 4-1.

Perfect on the Home Pitch

Georgia State has been a perfect 3-0-0 playing at the GSU Soccer Complex in the 2026 season.

On Aug. 16, the Panthers dominated Truett-McConnell 7-0 on Senior Night, with senior Aaliyah Faddoul recording a hat trick. A week later, Georgia State protected its home again, beating Wofford 3-0 thanks to a pair of early goals from Faddoul and a second-half strike from Sunniyah Tucker.

The Panthers found their third home win against ETSU on Sep. 3, winning 2-1. Freshman Brielle Delgado found the back of the net in the first minute, and Tucker scored in the 22nd minute.

Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs

Gardner-Webb comes into the game 3-3-1, led by first-year Head Coach Samantha Thomsit. The Runnin' Bulldogs opened the season with two wins against Queens and Emory & Henry. 

Gardner-Webb and Georgia State share a common opponent, Wofford, whom the Runnin' Bulldogs lost 1-0 to on Aug. 27. Gardner-Webb comes into this game off a 7-1 win against Montreat.

Kickoff for the Panthers is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sep. 13.
