ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's soccer team remained undefeated at home this season following a 2-0 victory over Presbyterian College on Saturday night. Freshman Kyle Clinton scored the game-winning goal, his first career goal.
The Panthers improved to 4-3 this season while the Blue Hose fell to 1-6. Georgia State is 4-0 at home this year.
GSU opened the match focused on offense, taking six shots in the first half. Clinton scored in the first 15 minutes off a deflected shot. He tied for second on the team for shots with two, just one behind leader Nick Hague.
Sophomore Max Hemmings scored the second goal of the game on a penalty kick, putting GSU up 2-0 heading into halftime. It was Hemmings' third goal of the season.
Georgia State also had an impressive game defensively, holding Presbyterian to just three shots with none on target. All three of Presbyterian's shots came in the first 25 minutes of the match.
“We're pleased that the guys could bounce back from last weekend and get a good win at home,” head coach Brett Surrency said. “I thought we competed all night and it's great to see the defense hold Presbyterian to zero shots on goal. They were a gritty team and we're pleased to defend Panthersville again.”
The team will be back on the field at UNC Asheville on Sept. 17 for a midweek match-up. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
