Royer's 70 Leads Panthers at USA Intercollegiate

* The Georgia State women's golf team shot a second round 4-over 292 on Sunday to sit in third place at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.
|* Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer shot a 2-under 70 to lead the Panthers and move into a tie for 12th.
* Four Panthers are in the top 16 led by sophomore Jemima Gregson who is tied for sixth at 2-over.


MOBILE, Ala. – Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer used five birdies to shoot a 2-under 70 and lead Georgia State to a 4-over 292 and third place entering the final round of the USA Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course.

Royer, who redshirted last season due to injury, stands at 4-over par and tied for 12th following 36 holes.

Sophomore Jemima Gregson shot a second-straight 1-over 73, including an eagle on her first hole (No. 10), and is tied for sixth place at 2-over.

“Really impressed with the way the team played today,” said head coach Cathy Mant. “We are playing smart golf. We are making a nice amount of birdies and not making big numbers. It was great to see Emily return to form today and Jemima keep up her consistent play.”

Senior Jooeun Bae added a 1-over 73 that featured an opening nine 34, making four birdies during the round. She sits tied for 10th place, looking for her first career top 10 finish.

"Jooeun played some really good golf today," Mant continued. "Today might have been the best round of her collegiate career and I think it could really help her build confidence to play great during her senior year.

Freshman Harmanprit Kaur shot a 4-over 74 and stands at 5-over and tied for 16th with the final 18 holes to come on Monday.

Junior Paula Zabarte rounded out the line-up with an 87 and stands in 54th place at 25-over.

Following a 1-over 289, Southern Miss holds a five-stroke lead after 36 holes at 8-over par. Eastern Kentucky is second at 13-over par, with Georgia State in third at 14-over. UAB stands in fourth place at 15-over, with Sun Belt foe and tournament host South Alabama in fifth at 24-over.

Alabama State's Chanelle Avaricio shot a 1-over 73 and is the lone player under par and holds the individual lead at 1-under par. UAB's Rebecca Chandler is second at even par. Southern Miss teammates Emily Ross and Henriette Syr, along with Eastern Kentucky's Elsa Moberly are tied for third at 1-over par.

The 10-team field will conclude play off Holes No. 1 and No. 10 on Monday morning at 9 a.m. ET.
