* The Georgia State women's golf team shot a first round 10-over 298 to sit in third place at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday.

* The 10-team field will return to the course for round two on Sunday morning.
MOBILE, Ala. – Led by a pair of 1-over 73s from Harmanprit Kaur and Jemima Gregson, the Georgia State women's golf team shot an opening round 10-over 298 to stand in third place following the first round of the USA Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course.
Kaur, coming off a tie for fifth in her collegiate debut, made one birdie and two bogeys en route to her 73 which leaves her tied for seventh.
Gregson made a pair of birdies and three bogeys to shoot 73 and stand tied with Kaur, five strokes off the individual lead.
“I'm extremely proud of the team,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We were able to get off to a very nice start today and put ourselves in the lead group entering the second round. I saw a lot of fight and determination in our team today and that should only mean great things moving forward.”
Senior Jooeun Bae stands tied for 14th following a 2-over 74 as she made three birdies during the opening round.
Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer added a 6-over 78 to stand tied for 32nd, while junior Paul Zabarte shot a 10-over 82 to sit in a tie for 52nd.
Eastern Kentucky opened the event with a 6-over 294 to hold an early one-stroke lead over Southern Miss which shot 295. The Panthers sit third, followed by Sun Belt foe and tournament host South Alabama in fourth at 13-over. UAB rounds out the top five at 14-over.
Eastern Kentucky's Emilie Simmons owns the early lead at 4-under following a 68. Alabama State's Chanelle Avaricio is second at 2-under, followed by Eastern Kentucky's Elsa Moberly and Stephen F. Austin's Jessica White which are tied for third at 1-under. Samford's Madeline Davis and Southern Miss' Henriette Syr round out the top five at even par.
The 10-team field will continue play off Holes No. 1 and No. 10 on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. ET. The Panthers will be paired with Eastern Kentucky and Southern Miss.
