Gregson's Top 10 Leads Panthers at SBC Championship

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – With two golfers in the top 20, Georgia State finished seventh at the Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday at The Raven Golf Club. Freshman Jemima Gregson led the Panthers with a tie for 10th following a final round 78.

The Panthers struggled on the final day, shooting a 324. Gregson's 78 led the team as she finished the event at 16-over par.

Texas State ran away with the championship, finishing at 43-over, earning a 19-stroke win. Troy was second at 62-over, with Little Rock in third at 68-over par. Georgia Southern finished fourth at 75-over to earn a point in the rivalry series with Georgia State. Arkansas State rounded out the top five at 78-over.

Junior Solene Le Coz shot a final round 79 to finish the 54-hole event at 19-over par and tied for 18th. Fellow junior Jooeun Bae added an 83 and finished the event 27-over par and tied for 27th.

Sophomore Paula Zabarte finished alone in 39th place at 35-over following a final round 84, while Yasemin Sari finished 44th at 51-over par after shooting 92 on Tuesday.

Texas State's Maty Monzingo defeated Little Rock's Shania Berger in a two-hole playoff to earn low medalist honors. The pair had finished the event at 8-over par. Texas State's Lora Assad and Raksha Phadke tied for third at 10-over, with Troy's Bianca Lohbauer rounding out the top five at 12-over.

Georgia State's season will come to an end. The Panthers will lose one senior, Julie Lied, but are expected to welcome several newcomers when the team returns to action in the fall.
