Panthers Cruise Past Georgia Southern 6-1 for First Conference Win

TROY, Ala. – Georgia State jumped to a 1-0 lead after securing two quick wins in doubles. The Panthers followed up their strong showing in doubles with an equally impressive performance in singles.

Linn Timmermann, Kristin Rehse, Niri Rasolomalala, Chiara Volejnicek, and Daniela Ramirez all won in straight sets to earn the Panthers five points and the 6-1 win.

Linn Timmerman and Tarani Kamoe won on court one 6-0. Freshmen tandem Chiara Volejnicek and Daniela Ramirez won 6-2 to secure the doubles point for the panthers.

Niri Rasolomalala is now 9-3 in singles competition and her five consecutive wins in singles is best on the team.

The duo of Timmermann/Kamoe are 8-2 in their last ten matches in doubles and has won four straight doubles matches.

With the win, Georgia State is 8-5 on the season and 1-0 against Sun Belt opponents with Appalachian State on deck for tomorrow morning.
