* The Georgia State women's golf team shot a final round 305 to finish in sixth place at the ninth annual Jacksonville Classic on Tuesday.
* Sophomore Jemima Gregson led the Panthers shooting 74 on in the final round to finish tied for 18th at Marsh Landing Country Club.
* Freshman Harmanprit Kaur finished tied for 21st, her third top 25 finish in four tournaments this fall.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Led by a pair of 74s from Jemima Gregson and Harmanprit Kaur, the Georgia State women's golf team shot a final round 305 to finish sixth at the Jacksonville Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club on Tuesday.
Gregson led the Panthers with a tie for 18th at 7-over par for the 54-hole event, while Kaur tied for 21st at 8-over. For Kaur it was her third top 25 finish in her first four collegiate events.
Georgia State concluded the event at 37-over par, including a second round 291.
“We are currently struggling to find consistency from round to round, but I also do not think we are too far off,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We will continue to work on our short games which is the biggest area we need to improve. With that said, everyone on the team is continuing to work hard. I'm really proud of the way Harmanprit and Jemima continue to play and for Solene for hanging in there when things got tough today.”
Senior Solene Le Coz finished alone in 33rd following a final round 78 that left her at 11-over par. Fellow senior Jooeun Bae tied for 34th at 12-over after shooting 79 on Tuesday. Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer rounded out the line-up with an 84 in the final round to shoot 19-over par.
Daytona State cruised to a 16-stroke win, finishing the two-day event at 1-over par. Nova Southeastern finished second at 17-over, followed by West Florida in third at 23-over. Lynn University finished fourth at 26-over, while host Jacksonville shot 28-over to round out the top five.
Daytona State controlled the top of the individual leaderboard as Jiwon Jeon earned low medalist honors at 4-under par, defeating teammate Grace St-Germain who finished second at 3-under. West Florida's Paloma Vaccaro and Lynn's Jenny Ayala tied for third at even par, with West Florida's Lauren Lamm rounding out the top five at 1-over.
Georgia State will return to the course in less than a week for the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, N.C., Oct. 10-11.
