* One day after producing 13 birdies and an eagle to lead Friday's Day 1 competition, the Panthers had 23 bogeys, seven double-bogey holes and three triple-bogey holes on Saturday's Day 2.
* The season theme of injuries and missed time is back as Emily Royer sustained an injury Friday and couldn't play on Saturday, leaving GSU a player short in the scoring.
MESA, ARIZ. – With its worst round of the season, Georgia State dropped to 15th place in the 15-team Notre Dame Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona. Ten of the teams are ranked in the top 100 in the NCAA.
The Panthers were missing Emily Royer today with an injury, leaving the four remaining golfers scores to count. Friday marked the first time all season that Georgia State started with a full team of healthy golfers, but that didn't even last the 18 holes.
But, none of the four left on Saturday could break 80 with scores of 82, 82, 82 and 85. The 43-over par round of 331 was the highest round of the season. One day after leading the field with 13 birdies and an eagle, GSU struggled to find the cup and made just four birdies. GSU had 23 bogeys, seven double-bogey holes and three triple-bogey holes, leaving just 35 holes of par among the 72 holes played.
No. 27 Arizona State holds the Day 2 lead, with host and No. 37-ranked Notre Dame in second place and No. 67 Oklahoma in third.
Georgia State saw a trio all card rounds of 10-over 82 as Lauren Court, Jooeun Bae and Paula Zabarte finished with that total. Freshman Yasemin Sari had a 13-over 85. GSU's best round of the day by Solene Le Coz (80) didn't count as she is playing the tournament only as an individual.
"I'm almost speechless about how to describe the day," coach Cathy Mant said. "With a player out, I think everyone else felt the pressure and couldn't respond. Our short game was simply awful, but we haven't had the weather and ability in Atlanta to work on it with the young golfers. We will just keep our head up, keep trying and see if we can finish Sunday on a higher note."
The temperatures were in the upper 80 degree range in the Arizona desert. GSU will play the final 18 holes on Sunday with Ole Miss and Sam Houston State in its grouping.
