TALLAHASSEE, FLA - Georgia State opened the spring golf season with a first-round 323 to sit in 12th place in the strong Florida State Match-Up on Friday. The event continues Saturday and Sunday at Southwood Golf Course.
No. 2-ranked South Carolina leads the tournament with No. 9 Mississippi State second. Georgia State's 323 was a season-high score.
Sophomore Solene Le Coz posted a season-best tying round of 76 (+6) to lead Georgia State while freshman Paula Zabarte shot a personal-best 79 (+9). Lauren Court scored an 81, freshman Emily Royer carded a 87 and Yaseman Sari made her college debut with an 89.
"We had a really tough day today, but I was proud to see Solene's improvement," coach Cathy Mant said. "The freshmen struggled, which is to be somewhat expected. The bermuda greens really gave us fits and added to the high scores. We'll be ready Saturday and hope to see some marked improvement."
