6-foot-3 Post From South Carolina Inks With GSU

ATLANTA (Nov. 11) – Shaquanda Miller-McCray, a post player from Crestwood High School in Sumter, S.C., has signed a national letter of intent with Georgia State women's basketball, head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener announced.

The 6-foot-3 Miller-McCray has already been a two-time Class AAA all-state honoree for coach Tony Wilson as she heads into her senior season. She was close to averaging a triple-triple during her junior season at Crestwood, as she averaged 9.8 points per game, 12 rebounds per game and 9.1 blocked shots per game.

There have been individual games along the way where she did have triple-triple games with double figures in all three categories for the 25-win Crestwood team that was state runner-up.

“She is going to be a tremendous addition to our program for the next four years,” coach Baldwin-Tener said. “”She is long, athletic and runs the floor very well and has so much upside as she continues to develop. Her shot blocking skills and defense will make her a factor immediately. She comes from a strong high school program and is getting great coaching to have her ready.”

She is ranked No. 91 overall by All-Star Girls Report and No. 43 at her position by ESPN Basketball Ranking.

Miller-McCray played AAU ball with the S.C. 76ers of coach Roger Wiley.

She is an honor roll student in high school and also played volleyball at Crestwood.

Shaquanda is the daughter of Knaja Miller and has two younger brothers.
