SPARTANBURG, SC — The Georgia State women's basketball team (2-1, SBC 0-0) erupted in the fourth quarter, dropping 30 points to pull away from the Wofford Terriers (1-2, SoCon 0-0) for a 75-68 road victory Tuesday night in Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The Panthers had three players in double figures, led by Crystal Henderson with 19 points, eight assists and five steals. Kaleigh Addie added 18 points and six rebounds, while Morgan Robinson-Nwagwu chipped in 11 points and seven boards.
Georgia State's offense was hot from beyond the arc, hitting 12-of-32 three-pointers, including four from Addie. Defensively, the Panthers held Wofford to just 35.7 percent from the field and limited the Terriers' outside shooting to 17.2 percent (5-of-29).
How It Happened
After falling behind 20-10, Georgia State answered with a 5-0 run late in the first quarter, capped by a Henderson three-pointer, to cut the deficit to 20-15, a score that would hold through the period.
The Panthers then went on a 10-0 spurt, highlighted by a three from Savannah Robinson-Holmes, to take a 30-25 lead. Wofford, however, battled back to retake a 31-30 edge heading into halftime.
The Terriers extended their lead to 41-36 early in the third, but Georgia State responded with a 6-0 run to grab a 42-41 lead with 2:29 left in the quarter. Wofford tied the game at 45-45 heading into the fourth, setting the stage for a decisive finish.
In the final frame, Georgia State erupted, knocking down six three-pointers to account for 18 of its 30 points in the quarter. The Panthers seized a 70-68 lead before finishing strong with a 5-0 run to secure a 75-68 victory with seven seconds remaining. The fourth-quarter explosion from deep proved to be the difference, propelling Georgia State past Wofford on the road.
