BRASELTON, Ga. – After a change of plans kept the Georgia State women's golf team close to home this week, the Panthers took advantage on Monday shooting their two lowest rounds of the season, a 6-over 294 and a 1-under 287, to stand in sixth at the Fall Invitational.

Due to the state of emergency declared in South Carolina, the Fall Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern was moved to Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga., thanks to the help of new co-host Kennesaw State.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be played at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., however, torrential rains have flooded most of the South Carolina coast making it impossible to even travel to the area.

Freshman Jemima Gregson shot back-to-back career-low rounds of 71 to sit at 2-under par and tied for sixth with 18 holes to play. Gregson made three birdies in each round on Monday.

“I am really proud of the way the team played today,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “With all of the rain we have had over the last 10 days in Atlanta, the course is very wet and we have not had a chance to play a whole lot during that time period. However, the team came out focused and executed their shots well.

Jemima Gregson showed today that she has the capabilities of being a special player. Those 71s were really good rounds.”

Junior Solene Le Coz shot rounds of 74 and 70 to stand at even par, tied for 17th, entering the final round. Her final nine holes of the day included four birdies as she shot a 3-under 33 on the back nine of the Chateau Course.

Sophomore Yasemin Sari, who already has a pair of top 25 finishes this year, added rounds of 73 and 74 to stand at 3-over par and tied for 26th following seven birdies on Monday.

Sophomore Paula Zabarte fired rounds of 76 and 72 to sit at 4-over and tied for 30th entering the final round, while senior Julie Lied rounded out the line-up with scores of 78 and 77 to sit at 11-over, tied for 57th.

Chattanooga leads the 13-team field at 12-under par following an afternoon round of 280. Middle Tennessee is second at 10-under, followed by Ole Miss in third at 7-under after an afternoon 10-under 278, the lowest round of the tournament. East Tennessee State is fourth at even par, followed by Memphis in fifth at 2-over with the Panthers just three back of the Tigers.

Ole Miss' Abby Newton shot an afternoon 7-under 65 to stand at 9-under par with a one stroke lead entering the final round. Chattanooga's Emily McLennan is second at 8-under par. A trio of golfers are in third at 4-under, including Middle Tennessee's Emily Miller, Chattanooga's Isabella Loza and Gardner-Webb's Taylor Dodson.

Georgia State will be paired with East Tennessee State and Memphis for the third round which will take place on The Woodlands Course with an 8 a.m. ET shotgun start. Live scoring of the final round can be found at GolfStat.com.

Following this week's tournament, Georgia State will return to the course in two weeks, Oct. 18-20, for the Fighting Camel Classic hosted by former conference foe Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
