BRADENTON, Fla. – The Georgia State women's golf team started its final event of the fall shooting a 27-over 315 on Sunday afternoon at the 38th annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
Freshman Jemima Gregson, who has recorded back-to-back top 25 finishes, opened play with a 2-over 74 and stands in a tie for 16th. Gregson made a pair of birdies during the first round.
“We definitely did not get off to the start that we would have liked today,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We made some birdies, but had way too many bogeys and bigger numbers that cost us greatly. Thankfully there are two rounds remaining and time for us to rebound.”
Sophomore Yasemin Sari, who has finished in the top 30 in all four events this year, opened with a 6-over 78 and stands tied for 40th. Fellow sophomore Paula Zabarte added an 8-over 80 and is tied for 55th following the first day.
Freshman Gloria Zeitler shot an 11-over 83 and is 68th following the first round, while junior Solene Le Coz rounded out the line-up with a 12-over 84 and is tied for 69th.
James Madison leads the 14-team field following a 2-over 290 on Sunday. Memphis stands second at 4-over, followed by Daytona State in third at 7-over. Toledo is fourth at 8-over, followed by host FIU in fifth at 9-over.
Memphis' Leighann Cabush opened play with a 3-under 69 to take the first round lead. Daytona State's Ji Sun Kang and James Madison's Laura Gomez are tied for second at 2-under par. Florida Atlantic's Kadi Pallastrone and FIU's Meghan MacLaren are tied for fourth at 1-under par.
