Fall season ends 18th of 20 in Palmetto Intercollegiate

With a final round 317, Georgia State women's golf team finished 18th in the 20-team Palmetto Intercollegiate at Turtle Point on Kiawah Island, S.C. GSU's final day was paced by sophomore Jooeun Bae's 78.

The final day was much like the first two as Georgia State offset six birdies with nine double-bogey holes and two triple-bogey scores.

Coastal Carolina claimed the trophy, with GRU Augusta and Furman in second and third, respectively. The field included nine teams ranked in the top 75.

“It was a very tough week for us and not the way we hoped to end the fall season,” veteran coach Cathy Mant said. “We just didn't have it these three days and made too many costly mistakes. We were never able to recover from the bad holes. Now, we have time to work and prepare for the spring season.”

Freshman Emily Royer tied for 60th in the 104-golfer field with a 234 (+18). Sophomore Jooeun Bae carded 238 (+22) to finish 75th, while sophomore Solene Le Coz scored a 239 (+23) to tie for 82nd.

The Panthers will re-group for the spring season that begins on Feb. 13 in the Florida State Match-Up in Tallahassee, Fla.
