After the first day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Turtle Point on Kiawah Island, S.C., the Georgia State women's golf team sits in 18th place in the 20-team field.
The Panthers carded a round of 322 (+34), their second-highest of the fall season. Sophomore Solene Le Coz was the lone GSU golfer able to break 80, posting a round of 79. Freshman Emily Royer carded an 80 for the day's work.

"Putting was an issue for us Sunday and we had errant shots find water and out of bounds areas," coach Cathy Mant said. "We are a young team struggling to find confidence now and staying in the moment. I am waiting for a leader to emerge. I think it will happen. Monday, we will give the course another try and hope some of the technical issues improve."
This Palmetto field includes nine teams ranked in the top 75. Coastal Carolina gained the first round lead over Furman with a 6-under opening-day score.
Georgia State will tee off in Monday's second round with Maryland and South Florida. Live scoring of the Palmetto Intercollegiate is on GolfStat.com.
