GREENVILLE, S.C. – Georgia State shot a second round 303 and stands tied for tenth entering Sunday's final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational. Junior Lauren Court and sophomore Julie Lied led the Panthers with a pair of 75s on Saturday.
The round of 303 came on the heels of a first-round 302 as head coach Cathy Mant looks to build consistency this season.
“We took a lot of good things out of today,” Mant said. “We were looking to build consistency and through two rounds this year, we are doing that. We made some mistakes today, but overall I feel good. Each member of this team is working hard and each are close to being able to shoot rounds of par or better.
“Tomorrow might just be the day that everyone puts their best rounds together and we put up a really impressive score. The team is putting better and just building confidence. Our position as a team on the leaderboard does not indicate how well we are playing and how much we have improved.”
Following her second straight round of 75, Court is tied for 25th at 6-over par with 18 holes to play. The junior finished strong, making birdies of two of her final six holes. Court is looking for the third top 25 finish of her career and first since her freshman year.
Lied is tied for 30th after a 3-over round that included an eagle at the par-5, 473-yard sixth hole. The sophomore is 7-over after 36 holes and is on pace for a career-best finish.
Senior Laura Sanchez shot a second-straight 4-over 76 to stand at 8-over and tied for 37th. Sanchez' second round included a pair of birdies.
Senior Melissa Siviter shot a second-round 6-over 78 and is tied for 43rd at 9-over par entering the final round. Siviter made four birdies in her round.
Senior Maria Palacios rebounded from a tough first round to shoot 77 on Saturday and stands at 14-over and tied for 64th entering Sunday.
Freshman Solene Le Coz, competing as an individual and making her GSU debut, shot a second round 5-over 77 and stands 11-over and tied for 54th in the 90-player field.
GRU Augusta (formerly Augusta State) continues to lead following a second round even-par 288. Entering the final round, GRU Augusta leads Clemson by five strokes, as the Tigers stand 2-over. Wisconsin stands third at 8-over, followed by host Furman in fourth at 15-over. East Carolina rounds out the top-five at 17-over.
Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey leads by one at 5-under following a second round 71. GRU Augusta's Eunice Yi is in second at 4-under, followed by teammate Casey Kennedy in third at 3-under. East Carolina's F. Gustafsson Spang and Clemson's Sloan Shanahan are tied for fourth at 2-under.
The teams will begin the final round at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start. The Panthers will be paired with Coastal Carolina and Wofford.
