ATLANTA--The No. 61-ranked Georgia State women's tennis team heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for two matches against Florida-area schools in an important weekend set beginning on Saturday.

Georgia State (2-3) first takes on UCF at Noon on Saturday before playing No. 27-ranked Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Georgia State's match on Saturday vs. UCF will mark its first against a team not ranked in the Top 75 nationally this season. No. 27 Florida State will be GSU's second-highest ranked opponent it has faced this season. The Panthers will play both matches at the Speicher Tennis Center on the campus of Florida State University.

Georgia State's match vs. Florida State provides an opportunity for the Panthers to notch their highest-ranked win in program history. GSU boasts a nationally-ranked singles player in the No. 28-ranked junior Abigail Tere-Apisah. Tere-Apisah joins sophomore Masa Grgan as GSU's lone nationally-ranked doubles pair at No. 32 in the country.

Florida State has three nationally-ranked singles players in its top six but is without a nationally-ranked doubles pairing. Sophomore Danieka Borthwick tops FSU's lineup and is the No. 35-ranked player in the ITA National Singles rankings. She is 2-1 in singles to begin the year playing all of her matches in the No. 1 slot. Senior Francesca Segarelli plays in the No. 2 slot and is ranked No. 91 in the nation. Finally, sophomore Mia Vriens has played at No. 2 and 3 and holds a national ranking of No. 95.

FSU is 4-1 this season and last won a 6-1 match at No. 44-ranked USF on Feb. 2. The only meeting between the Panthers and Seminoles came in 2011 which was a 5-2 victory for Florida State.

UCF is 5-1 to begin the season after back-to-back 5-2 victories last weekend against Troy and Furman. It is the best start for the Knights since the 2009-10 season. Senior Genevieve Lorbergs leads the Knights at the No. 1 spot and is 5-1 in singles play to begin the year. She earned the Conference-USA Player of the Week honor last week. GSU is searching for its first win all-time vs. UCF as it is 0-for-7 in all of the matchups dating back to 1988.

Georgia State, led by sixth-year head coach Miha Lisac, is looking to bounce back after a 6-1 loss at No. 60 Auburn last Saturday. Grgan and Tere-Apisah notched a doubles victory and Grgan won a 7-6, 6-3 match at No. 2 singles.
