Lorentzen 3rd, Team 4th After Two Rounds in Miami

Georgia State stands in fourth place in the team standings, and the Panthers' Charlotte Lorentzen is third on the individual leaderboard after 36 holes at the Hurricane Invitational at Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club in Miami, Fla.

Playing 36 holes in difficult, windy conditions, the Panthers posted a team score of 305 in both of Monday's rounds on the par-71 layout. GSU trails 36-hole leader Miami by 13 strokes, and the host Hurricanes hold an eight shot lead over second-place Ohio State.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Tuesday.

Lorentzen, the senior from Soroe, Denmark, fired rounds of 74 and 73 Monday to stand at five over, three shots behind leader Brooke Bellomy of Campbell.

"I definitely feel better about these two rounds than I did about our last event," said GSU head coach Cathy Mant. "We played pretty well for 27 holes, but on that final nine holes of the day, some of the girls just ran out of gas. Carrying that bag and walking 36 holes is physically draining.

"The golf course has water all around you, and the wind was really blowing today, so that made scoring difficult," Mant continued. "Still, we've made progress since our last tournament, and we'll see what happens tomorrow."

Sophomore Laura Sanchez fired a 75 in Monday's second round, and she enters the final round tied for 12th at 10-over.

Senior Charlotte Guilleux carded a 74 on the first 18 holes but fell to 80 in the second round. The senior from France is tied for 22nd at 12-over.

Lauren Court's 77 in the second round puts the freshman from Lawrenceville, Ga., at 15-over, tied for 34th place.
