Charlotte Lorentzen shot her second straight one-over-par 73, and Charlotte Guilleux carded a two-over 74 to lead the Georgia State women's golf team in the second round of the UCF Challenge at the par-72, 6,374-yard RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
The Panthers, ranked No. 61 by Golfweek, shot 310 for the round to stand in a tie for 17th place with Minnesota with a two-round total of 612. Third-ranked Auburn and 22nd-ranked Baylor are tied for the lead at seven-under 569, pacing a field in which seven of the 18 teams are among the top 50 in the latest Golfweek rankings.
The 54-hole event concludes with 18 holes Tuesday.
Lorentzen's, the senior from Soroe, Denmark and the nation's No. 28 individual by Golfweek, is the Panthers' top individual with a 36-hole total of 146 (+2), which is tied for 20th. Guilleux is tied for 51st at 150 (+6). Baylor's Hayley Davis leads the individual standings at 139 (-5).
Georgia State's remaining three players each shot in the 80s.
"I'm extremely disappointed in our performance today, but not in our effort," said GSU head coach Cathy Mant, whose Panthers were eight shots better in round one. "We just played very poorly today.
"On the positive side, we didn't give up, so now we have to try to attack some things differently," Mant continued. "Our top two played pretty well today, but we have to have more than those two. In particular, our short games have to improve."
