Hempstead, N.Y.--The
Georgia State men's soccer team conceded a goal late in the second half and
took five shots in the final five minutes looking for the equalizer, but fell
1-0 at Hofstra on Saturday afternoon.
Georgia State (3-7-0, 0-2-0) redshirt junior Caleb Kernan and
freshman William Mellors-Blair each had shots saved in the last three minutes with
GSU trailing by a goal. Senior goalkeeper Vincent Foermer finished with five
saves for the match.
The Panthers finished with 13 shots for the match and fiver corner
kicks. Hofstra junior defender Shaun Foster broke a scoreless tie at the 76:08
mark with a header goal off a feed from junior midfielder Chris Griebsch.
GSU fell to 1-7-1 all-time against Hofstra (8-3-1, 2-2-0).
Georgia State, led by third-year head coach Brett Surrency, looks to snap a five-match slide on Wednesday. The
