CONWAY, S.C. — The Panthers knotted the game up after falling behind 1-0 in the first half, but were outpaced by Coastal Carolina in the second half, eventually falling by a final score of 3-1 on the road on Wednesday night.
How It Happened
A physical game on both ends saw the teams combine for 13 fouls and two yellow cards in the opening half. The combative nature of the half limited offensive chances, but the Chanticleers were able to capitalize just before the half, taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
Following the halftime break, the Panthers needed just five minutes to find the equalizer. Redirecting an attempted clear from Coastal,
Virgil Dall'Agnol was able to wager a shot from the outer edge of the box, sliding it past the keeper for his first goal of the season.
The Chanticleers were the first to wager a shot on goal with hopes of breaking the tie, and they took advantage. The second goal of the evening gave Coastal a 2-1 lead. That lead quickly grew to 3-1, as the Chants were able to add an insurance goal with under 18 minutes left to play.
The Panthers were unable to cut into the lead, eventually falling to 2-2-2 in conference play.
