Women?s Golf Finishes 11th at Conference Challenge

Vail, Colo. – Georgia State women's golf finished it first tournament of the season with an 11th place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. Wednesday evening. The Panthers were led by senior Charlotte Lorentzen, who finished in seventh place to account for the ninth top-10 of her career.

Georgia State posted its best round of the tournament, 301 (+13), during the final day of competition to finish with a total score of 924 (+60). After completing the opening round in a tie for 10th place, the Panthers rebounded from their share of 13th at the end of day two to finish the tournament in 11th place, notching wins over No. 31 Chattanooga, No. 39 Minnesota and No. 55 UTSA.

Lorentzen maintained even par throughout most of the day's play, faltering with bogeys on only three holes to finish the round at 3-over 75. The Soroe, Denmark native posted a good showing in the first tournament of her senior year, finish five strokes off the lead in seventh place at 6-over.  

Like Lorentzen, senior Charlotte Guilleux and sophomore Laura Sanchez both also fired 3-over 75 during the final day of competition. Sanchez finished tied for 43rd place at 17-over while Guilleux found birdies on holes 3, 5 and 18 to come away with a share of  51st place at 19-over.

Sophomore Solveig Helgesen shot 4-over 76 to finish tied for 57th place at 21-over. Shooting a final-round 81 (+9), freshman Lauren Court finished with a share of 75th place in her very first collegiate tournament.

No. 27 Oklahoma swept the awards presentation, capturing both the team and individual titles. The Sooners jumped up the leader board to take the gold after entering the day's competition in sixth place. Oklahoma fired 3-over 291 on the day to finish in first at 35-over followed by UC Davis is second with 904 (+40) and Tulsa taking bronze with 906 (+42).

Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil shot even par throughout the final round to take individual medalist honors at 1-over. Three strokes behind the top spot was a three-way tie for second place containing Grace Na (Pepperdine) Kristina Merkle (Tulsa) and Natalie Gleadall (Ole Miss) all at 4-over.

The Georgia State women's golf team returns to the links Oct. 2-4 at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
