Lorentzen Sinks Eagle During Day Two

Vail, Colo. – Georgia State senior Charlotte Lorentzen landed a second-round eagle and stands just four strokes back from the lead entering Wednesday's final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. Lorentzen stands at 3-over after 36 holes, helping the Panthers to a score of 319 on the day.

Windy conditions on the course throughout the morning caused some problems in the day's totals. All but one school in the 18-team field saw an increase in scores from round one to round two.  The breezy weather paired with more difficult pin placement dropped Georgia State into a tie for 13th place at 47 over par. Teams will conclude the tournament with 18 holes Wednesday at the par-72 6,405-yard Red Sky Golf Club.

Lorentzen struggled through her opening holes, entering the front nine at 6-over, but soon found relief on the front side of the course. The Soroe, Denmark native sank an eagle on hole No. 2 and shot even par on the remaining seven holes to finish the day at 4-over. Lorentzen enters the final round of strokeplay in a two-way tie for fourth place at 3-over.

Sophomore Laura Sanchez played up and down on the back nine, alternating between birdie and bogey on holes 14 through 18. Sanchez evened out on the front to shoot 81 (+9) on the day and stands in a tie for 50th place at 14-over.

Senior Charlotte Guilleux shot a second round 83 and stands in a tie for 61st place at 16-over. Sophomore Solveig Helgesen was the only Panther to improve upon her first-round score, firing 7-over 79 in the second round. Helgesen's three stroke improvement elevated her to a tie for 67th place at 17-over entering the final 18 holes.

Rounding out the Panthers was freshman Lauren Court who recorded 84 on the day and shares 72nd place at 19-over.

No. 34 Oregon took over the top spot with a second-round 304. The Ducks hold a five-stroke lead over No. 20 Pepperdine, No. 42 Ole Miss and No. 43 Denver all tied for second place at 30-over.

In individual competition, Natalie Gleadall of Ole Miss and Pepperdine's Grace Na share first place, both at 1-under. Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil stands alone in third place at 1-over followed by Lorentzen and Cheyenne Hickle of Oregon tied for fourth at 3-over.

Wednesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. MT (11 a.m. ET). Live scoring will be available for the Golfweek Conference Challenge at www.GolfStat.com. Full reports and scores will be posted at www.GeorgiaStateSports.com at the end the third round.
