Women?s Golf Wraps Up Day One in 10th of 18

Vail, Colo – Senior Charlotte Lorentzen led the way with a round-high six birdies as Georgia State women's golf completed the opening day of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. at the par-72 6,405-yard Red Sky Golf Club. The Panthers shot 304 (+16) to finish the first 18 holes in a tie for 10th place in the 18-team field.

Lorentzen kept pace for the Panthers, firing 1-under 71 to complete the opening round in fifth place. After teeing off the tenth tee, the Soroe, Denmark native landed two birdies on the back nine and sank four more throughout her final seven holes to account for the most birdies shot by any golfer during the first day of competition.

Senior Charlotte Guilleux and Sophomore Laura Sanchez both fired 5-over 77 and finished the day in a tie for 39th place.

Freshman Lauren Court had a good showing in her inaugural collegiate performance, maintaining even par on all but one of her opening nine holes. The newcomer from Lawrenceville, Ga. enters the second round in a tie for 61st place after shooting a first-round 79 (+7).

Rounding out the Panthers is sophomore Solveig Helgesen who carded 82 on the first day of competition.

After day one, nationally ranked UC Davis is at the top of the leader board at 6-over par, followed by Oregon and Coastal Carolina tied for second three strokes behind, both finishing 9-over. In individual competition, Natalie Gleadall (Ole Miss), Kaitlin Higginbotham (Coastal Carolina) and Grace Na (Pepperdine) all stand in a tie for the top spot at 3-under.
