Lorentzen Wraps Up Play at NCAA Regional

Daytona Beach, Fla. -- Georgia State women's golfer Charlotte Lorentzen shot a third round 79 (+7) to wrap up stroke play at the 2011 NCAA East Regional on the par 72, 6,271-yard LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Saturday. When played ended on Saturday afternoon, Lorentzen finished in a tie for 87th, ending the junior's season shy of an appearance in the NCAA Championships.

Lorentzen qualified for the NCAA tournament as an individual after finishing the season as the 88th-ranked female collegiate golfer in the nation and the No. 1 golfer in the Colonial Athletic Association

The junior from Soroe, Denmark had a rocky start on the back nine, registering four bogeys and a double bogey to card a 42 (+6) going out. Once on the front nine, Lorentzen sank consecutive birdies on the par-four first and the par-five second to put her at 4-over with seven holes to play. Despite her glimpse at a comeback, Lorentzen dropped three bogeys on the remaining holes to come in with 37 (+1).

To advance to the NCAA Championship, Lorentzen needed to finish as the top individual not on a qualifying team. The top eight teams advance from the regional to the championship. With her final round 79, Lorentzen posted 78-76-79—233 (+17) throughout the three-day tournament.
