Pinehurst, N.C. - Georgia State junior Charlotte Guilleux captured medalist honors at the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Championship with an even-par 72 during the final round, the lowest score of the tournament. The Panthers fell five strokes short of the CAA title, finishing with a total score of 922 (+58) and in the runner-up spot behind winner UNC Wilmington at the par 72, 6,002-yard Pinehurst No. 6.

Guilleux, from St. Maur de Fosses, France, took over the individual lead after landing a birdie at the 11th hole, one of three birdies in her round. She finished the three-day event at six-over 222 to become the third GSU Panther in the last four years to capture the CAA individual medal. Guilleux finished one stroke ahead of Nicole Sakamoto of James Madison.

The Panthers, the two-time defending champions, began the day in second place but were never able to overtake UNCW, which jumped from fourth into first with a team score of 299, the best round of the tournament by three strokes.

Georgia State finished three shots ahead of third-place Xavier (925, +61) and four strokes better than fourth-place James Madison (926, +62).

Individually, Solveig Helgesen and Laura Sanchez finished 11th and 13th, respectively, for the Panthers. Helgesen's round of 77 was highlighted by birdies on five and 15 as she completed the tournament at 231 (+15).

Sanchez managed one birdie in her round of 79, giving her a total of 232 (+16).

Junior Charlotte Lorentzen, who won the individual crown for the Panthers last year, carded a five-over 77 to finish with a share of 19th at 237 (+21).

Cherishton Brett shot 83 to finish at 253 (+37).

The Panthers now hope for an at-large berth into the NCAA Regionals. Georgia State has reached NCAA play seven of the last eight years.
