Sorrento, Fla. – Junior Charlotte Lorentzen led the way with an even-round 72 as the Georgia State women's golf team completed the initial round of competition at UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla. Georgia State shot a 299 (+11) to finish the day in a tie for 13th place with No. 47 East Carolina.
Lorentzen led the Panthers after the first 18 holes, tallying four birdies throughout the day to finish at an even-par 72. The Soroe, Denmark native enters the second round with a share of 14th place.
With only two bogies blemishing her otherwise even-par scorecard, freshman Laura Sanchez finished the first round with a 2-over 74 to stand in a tie for 35th place.
Junior Charlotte Guilleux carded a 3-over 75 during the first day to finish behind Sanchez with a share of 45th place, while freshman Solveig Helgesen shot a 78 (+6) to finish tied for 78th.
Redshirt junior Cherishton Brett, in only her second start of the season, shot a first-round 84 (+12).
No. 14 Tulane leads the 17-team field after an opening-round 4-under 284. Coastal Carolina is close behind the top spot with a 3-under 285 with host UCF rounding out the top-three with a 2-under 286.
In individual competition, Kentucky's Ashleigh Albrecht and Coastal Carolina's Jessica Alexander stand in a tie for first place at 6-under 66. Ket Preamchuan of Kennesaw State holds sole possession of third place entering into the second round with a 4-under 68.
