Georgia State women's golf moved one spot up the leaderboard over the final round, led by sophomore Charlotte Lorentzen's even-par 70 in the final round, to finish 10th of 15 at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational on the par-70, 6,002 yard Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
"I thought we improved today after a rough outing yesterday," said Georgia State head coach Cathy Mant. "I'm thrilled for Charlotte, getting another good finish. I thought this was an important day for us, heading to the conference championship and toward our season-long goal of making the NCAA Championship."
Lorentzen moved up 23 spots over the final 18 holes to pick up a share of 14th place, her fifth top-20 performance of the year. The Soroe, Denmark native totaled a 220 (+10) over two days in Gainesville.
Senior Sandra Maier finished 67th, but carded a hole-in-one at the 158-yard eighth hole. Maier bookended a second round 73 (+3) with a pair of 83s.
Senior Cathrine Madsen moved up seven places with her best round of the tournament, a final round 74 (+4). Madsen picked up a share of 33rd place overall, her second-best career finish in four tries at the Gator Invitational.
Freshman Ellie Robinson held on to her 40th place position with a final round 77 (+7). Sophomore Iliska Verwey finished 55th after an 81 (+11) on the final day.
Georgia State scored wins over 44th-ranked Furman, South Florida, Georgetown, Florida International, Florida Atlantic.
Michigan State won the team competition by three shots with an 868 (+28). Chattanooga's Emma de Groot won a playoff to earn medalist honors with a 212 (+2).
Georgia State finished their regular season at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational this year, and next heads to the Colonial Athletic Association championship in Hot Springs, Va. as they try to defend their 2009 conference crown.
