Atlanta, Ga. - The Georgia State women's tennis team (2-9) started off slow and just couldn't recover against Winthrop, falling 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Piedmont Park. Sophomore #28 Diana Nakic improved to 11-0 and continued her perfect season by winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 over Elizaveta Zaytseva.
Georgia State started out the match by losing all three of the doubles matches to lose the doubles point. In No. 1 doubles match the team of Diana Nakic/Linda Hricistova lost a close match, 9-7, to Elizaveta Zaytseva/Yasmine Alkema.
Freshman Terez Lerova played a tough match after winning the first set, 6-4, before losing in the second 0-6. Lerova lost the third set tiebreaker 10-7 to fall at No. 4 singles.
The Panthers will return to action on Friday when the Panthers travel to Wilmington, N.C. to face Miami Ohio and UNC-Wilmington on Saturday.
