Atlanta, Ga. – The Georgia State men's tennis team (9-5) won convincingly against Lipscomb (4-6), 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Piedmont Park. Sophomore Jackson Moore won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 over Chad Pierron at No. 1 singles.
Georgia State started the match by winning two of the three the doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The team of Victor Valente/Henri Mangin won at No. 2 doubles over Tanner Brown/Chad Pierron, 8-2. At No. 1 doubles the team of Jackson Moore/Trenton Spinks won the clinching point, 8-5, over James Murrell/Daniel Hangstefer.
Junior Trenton Spinks won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, earning his third win of the season, at No. 3 singles for the Panthers. Senior Henri Mangin also won in straight sets to post his tenth win of the season at No. 4 singles. Junior Juan Pablo Gutierrez won the clinching point at No. 5 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
"We played very well and I was impressed with the effort today. A 7-0 victory is always nice and the guys are feeling good about getting our 9th win. We have a tough task tomorrow in Mercer but I believe the guys will be up to the challenge," said head coach Chase Hodges.
The Panthers return to action tomorrow to take on Mercer at the Rockdale Tennis Center in Conyers, Ga. at 3 p.m.
