Greenville, S.C. - The Georgia State women's tennis team, ranked #57, lost to Furman, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C. Sophomores Kir Kemp and Diana Nakic, ranked 42nd, picked up singles victories for the Panthers.
Georgia State started the match by winning two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point for the Panthers. Diana Nakic/Linda Hricistova defeated Monica Arguello/ Lauren Kline, 8-3, in the first doubles match. Katerina Gresova/ Tereza Lerova beat Jennifer Betts/Michele Stanford, 8-4.
In the closest match to date for the Panthers, sophomore Kir Kemp defeated Michele Stanford, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to earn a point for Georgia State.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday when they travel to Johnson City, Tn. to take on East Tennessee State at 11 a.m.
