Men?s Soccer Drops Game to Tribe, 3-0

Williamsburg, Va. - The Georgia State men's soccer team (4-4-2, 1-3-0 CAA) fell on the road, 3-0, against William & Mary (6-2-1, 2-1-1 CAA) on Wednesday night at Martin Family Stadium.  

In the first half, William & Mary struck first in the 33rd minute when Caleb Thomas headed a shot past Panthers' goalie Vincent Foermer after Foermer had made the initial save of a Ryan Snyder shot.

Georgia State's best opportunity in the first half came from sophomore Yasser Majluf, who fired a shot that was stopped by Tribe keeper Andrew McAdams to keep the game 1-0.

The Panthers would come out fighting in the second half, blistering three chances at the goal but just couldn't come up with the equalizer. The first chance was in the 55th minute when sophomore Eric Lawrence had a header attempt go off the cross bar and Majluf followed with a shot that the Tribe defense came away with the team save. Two minutes later, sophomore Gimel Gordon had a shot off a corner kick by Tribe keeper McAdams made another key save to keep the game at 1-0.  

William & Mary would add an insurance goal in the 74th minute when Snyder sent in a ball to teammate Nicholas Abrigo who placed a header past Foermer to make the score 2-0. Snyder earned his second assist of the game.

The Tribe would add a late goal with just two minutes remaining in the game, after Nathaniel Baako beat Foermer on a breakaway from the right side.

Foermer would finish the game with six saves on nine shots on goal.

Majluf had the best chances for the Panthers, taking four shots including two on goal. Lawrence and Donald Kirkland each finished with two shots apiece.

Georgia State returns home to take on Northeastern on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Panthersville. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the women's soccer team playing VCU at noon.
