Women?s Golf Enters Final Round in Second Place

Greenville, S.C. –The Georgia State women's golf team dropped one spot to second place on Saturday during the second round at the 17-team Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. After occupying first place on the leader board following the first 18 holes, the Panthers dropped to No. 2 in the 17-team field during the second day of stroke play, shooting a 320 (+32).

Junior Charlotte Lorentzen once again led the Panthers, firing a 4-over 76. Despite tallying three strokes more than her first round score, she held on to her portion of first place in individual competition. The Soroe, Denmark native enters the final round of competition vying for her second career medalist honor.

Charlotte Guilleux also maintained her rank in individual competition, finishing 36 holes with a share of seventh place. The junior transfer shot a 6-over 78 to remain in the top-10 on the leader board going into the final 18 holes, as she competes for the first top-10 finish of her Panther career.

After finishing the first round in a tie for first place, freshmen Jenny Haggblom suffered through the second round shooting an 11-over 83. She dropped 15 spots to enter the final day of competition in a tie for 16th place.

Freshman Solveig Helgesen also shot an 83 (11+) during the second day to stand in a tie for 56th place. Freshman Laura Sanchez wrapped up the second round with an 84 (12+) and a share of 63rd place.

Trailing Georgia State by three strokes after the first round, No. 42 Chattanooga overtook the Panthers' lead in the second round, firing a 308 (+20) in the second round to combine for a 36-hole total of 613 (+37). Georgia State fell to second place, nine strokes behind the leader with a total score of 622 (+46). Nova Southeastern and Rollins College stand in a tie for third place, both with scores of 625 (+49).

Lorentzen's shares her spot at the top with East Tennessee State's Sian Evans, shooting a 3-over 75 in the second round for a total score of 149 (+5). Trailing the duo are Chattanooga's Christine Wolf and Nova Southeastern's Sandra Changkija in a tie for third place with scores of 150 (+6).

Competition will come to a close on Sunday, Oct. 31 with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Live stats are available via GolfStat.com. Full recaps of each round will be posted at GeorgiaStateSports.com when play concludes for the day.
