South Bend, Ind. - Georgia State women's golfer Charlotte Lorentzen leads the William K. Warren Irish Invitational by one stroke with 18 holes to play. The junior shot a second round 69 to pace the Panthers, who stand in seventh place.
On a day in which the field played 36 holes, Lorentzen opened the day with a 3-over 75, making five bogies to just two birdies. However, she bounced back nicely in the afternoon, making five birdies to lead State to a second round 299. The Dane is even par and leads Toledo's Erica Rivard by one stroke entering Sunday.
Like Lorentzen, the Panthers bounced back after struggling in the first round. The Panthers shot 320 on the opening 18 and rallied from last place in the 13-team field. The second round 299, which was the third best second round score, only behind No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 13 Ohio State, which each shot 298, jumped State six spots in the standings. The Panthers are only seven shots out of third place.
Following an opening round 82, freshman Laura Sanchez rebounded with a 1-over 73 in the second round and stands in a tie for 24th place heading into tomorrow's final round. She jumped 31 spots in the standings from round one to round two.
