Madsen Leads Panthers in Round Two

Cathrine Madsen's 73 (+1) led all Panthers on day two at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the 6,135 yard par-72 Desert Course in Las Vegas, Nev. Monday. Georgia State moved up two spots to 13th of 18 on the afternoon.

Madsen finishes the day in 17th place, 10 shots behind leader Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State.

Georgia State fired a 307 as a team, improving from Monday by nine strokes. Through two rounds the Panthers have posted 318-307-625 (+49).

Following Madsen's 73, all four golfers turned in scores of 78 (+6), including freshman Ellie Robinson who returned to the course after withdrawing in the opening round.

Senior Sandra Maier held her ground in 35th overall with a 78. Maier's card reads 77-78-155 (+11) heading into Tuesday.

Junior Iliska Verwey followed her opening round 81 with an improved 78. Verwey's 159 (+15) places her 57th after two rounds.

Sophomore Charlotte Lorentzen also improved after a first round 83 by shooting a 78 to head into the final round tied for 68th at 161 (+17).

Georgia State goes into the final day of the tournament chasing Chattanooga (+14), California (+16), Pepperdine (+17), Oklahoma State (+17), Ohio State (+22), UNLV (+28), UC Irvine (+28), East Tennessee State (+33), Harvard (+37), Coastal Carolina (+42), Oral Roberts (+45), and Drake (+47).

The Panthers lead Ball State (+50), Jacksonville State (+50), Southern Methodist (+61), Fresno State (+66), and Portland State (+69).
