Golf Comes Up Four Shots Short

The 29th-ranked Georgia State women's golf team wrapped up their NCAA Regional appearance, and consequently, their season with a final round 318 (+30) on Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. The Panthers finished in ninth place, four shots short of earning their first-ever NCAA Championship berth.

Georgia State's total comes to 303-305-318?926 (+62) at the par-72, 6,242 yard Scarlet Course.

Scoring became difficult enough on Saturday that even 2nd-ranked UCLA posted a 303, their first team round over 290 during the week.

Freshman Charlotte Lorentzen posted the best finish for the Panthers, totaling 77-75-77?229 (+13), putting her 20th. Kendall Dye (Oklahoma) and Cindy LaCrosse (Louisville) wrapped up the two individual exemptions by posting +10 and +12, respectively.

Sandra Maier finished her tournament with an 80. Her rounds of 78-75-80?233 (+17) gave her a 44th place finish. Senior Anna Scott, playing her final event as a Panther, finished one stroke back of Maier with 76-79-79?234 (+18) in 46th place.

Iliska Verwey struggled after promising first and second rounds of 75 and 76, finishing up with a third round 85, a total of 236 (+20), and a 55th place finish.

Junior Cathrine Madsen wrapped up the week in 66th place at 75-82-82?239 (+23).

UCLA swept the regional , winning the team title with a 284-290-303?877 (+13) and the individual title with Maria Jose Uribe's 69-70-73?212 (-4). UCLA also had the second place finisher, Stephanie Kono at -3.
