Lorentzen Finishes 2nd, Scott 4th, Team 3rd

Freshman Charlotte Lorentzen posted her best career finish, second place overall, to lead 32nd-ranked Georgia State to a third place showing, one shot off the lead, at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Tuesday.

Windy, dry course conditions at the par 70, 5,954 yard Mark Bostick Golf Course tested the players' resolve all week, but certainly during Tuesday's final round in which no golfer scored even-par or better.

Lorentzen shot her way from ninth to second, overall, courtesy of a final round 74, contributing to the Panthers 302 (+22), which equalled lowest team score of the day.

Lorentzen wrapped up her finest career performance in 76-74-74?224 (+14), two shots back of medalist Amanda Blumenherst, ranked 21st in the nation out of Duke University.

The Soroe, Denmark native has finished 14th, 22nd, and 2nd overall in her three career events as a Panther.

Senior Anna Scott finished at 73-76-77?226 (+16) in fourth place. Scott's fourth place finish is her third consecutive top-five, after finishing fourth in Miami and second in the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate. Scott has accumulated four top-fives in six events this season, and thirteen in her career.

Both Scott and Lorentzen finished in front of Golfweek's top-ranked golfer in the nation, Candace Schepperle of Auburn who finished at +17 in a tie for 9th.

As a team, Georgia State finished third of 16 with scores of 307-305-302?913 (+74), only one shot back of 11th-ranked Duke and sixth-ranked Auburn who tied for the team lead at +73. Auburn defeated Duke for the team title on a one hole playoff.

The Panthers finished ahead of 8th-ranked Alabama, 30th-ranked Florida, 43rd-ranked Washington, 46th-ranked Furman, and 49th-ranked Florida State.

Junior Cathrine Madsen improved on the toughest scoring day of all to car 80-76-74?230 (+20) and navigated her way to a 13th place finish. Ending on a positive note, Madsen eyes a chance to repeat a CAA Individual Champion in a little over a week.

Madsen and Lorentzen's final rounds of 74 were bested by only one other golfer in the field on Tuesday, Anya Alvarez of Washington who posted a 73 to finish in 61st position.

Iliska Verwey posted her best round of the tournament on Tuesday to finish in 41st-place at 79-82-77?238 (+28).

Sandra Maier finished the tournament in 46th position with rounds of 79-79-81?239 (+29). Claire Starkie, competing as an individual, finished 32nd with scores of 73-82-78?235 (+25).

The Panthers strong showing at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational, their best finish at the event all-time, should serve as an excellent boost toward April 17th's CAA Championships, to be held in Pine Mountain, Ga.
