Women's Golf 7th of 20 in Colorado

Led by Sandra Maier's tie for 13th place, the Georgia State women's golf team finished seventh at the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational on Tuesday. After shooting rounds of 288 and 304 on Monday, the Panthers shot a final round 291. The round was just one stroke off a third round team record for State.

Maier finished the tournament shooting an even-par, 216. Following rounds of 68 and 76 on day one, Maier finished strong with a 72 in the final round.

Coming off of her school-record performance at the Cincinnati Women's Fall Classic, Iliska Verwey finished tied for 20th, shooting a final round 74 to finish at 2-over for the tournament. Claire Starkie also finished strong with a final round 72 to tie for 36th, while Cathrine Madsen finished in a tie for 52nd after a final round 73. Rounding out the field for the Panthers was Nicole Loesch, who shot a final round 78 to finish in a tie for 71st.

Taking home the team title was #24 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish finished 6-under for a five-stroke victory. Texas Tech (-1) finished second, while host #32 Colorado (+3) #52 Colorado State (+6) and #49 Cal State-Long Beach (+9) rounded out the top five.

CSU-Long Beach's Kay Hoey took home low medalist honors, shooting a 9-under par 207 for a three stroke victory. Colorado's Emily Childs and UC-Davis' Alice Kim tied for second at 6-under, while Notre Dame teammates Lisa Maunu and So-Hyun Park tied for fourth at 5-under.

The Panthers will return to action on October 12th at the UNC-Greensboro Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina.
